Shipmates,

As many of you already know, since the start of the Cruise Video project in 2008, I’ve managed to complete over a dozen videos. There are a few others almost done but unless more shipmates (and squadron guys) are willing to make the effort to dig out the film they took (I know it’s out there) and let me know about it, many of the unfinished videos will probably never see the light of day. There have been more than 50 shipmates’ films converted to digital and much of it now sits in my computer unfinished. I hope that everyone realizes that without these completed videos, that part of your history and your memories will be lost to future generations. I find it difficult to beg like this to help my shipmates preserve a part of their Navy history but I am not going to let it go. IT MUST BE PRESERVED! Even if you don’t have any film yourself, try to remember who had a movie camera and let’s let them know about this project. I will be glad to assist in locating those shipmates…just get in contact with me ….please! It would be shameful to lose this history while it is still salvageable.

Film is needed from the following Med. cruises: 1956-57, 1975 and Rosie’s final cruise 1976-77 and when these are completed we will have a visual history of the Rosie for the last 21 years of her life. All the other years have been completed and the videos are available in the Ship’s Store.

Remember that all film contributors get their film converted to digital at no cost, a free DVD of their film as well as a free copy of the final cruise video.

I can be contacted by email at larryb442@yahoo.com and by phone at 562 856-5313.

Fair winds and following seas,

Larry Blumenthal
